Summer Science Residential Academy

Summer Science Residential Academy provides out of school science, math, technology, language arts and arts enrichment to high school students during a summer residential program on the University of Kansas Campus.

SSA on the KU Camp provides 30-40 high school students academic, pro-social development and cultural competency enrichment during the 6 week residential.

Students are provided 90 hours of integrated science, math and language instruction. Note: All instruction is approved for district standards in science, math and language arts. The Summer 2012 curriculum was provided by the National Institutes of Health and focused on Bioethics, The Brain and Addiction, and Evolution and Medicine.

Students also receive the following special programs:

40 hours of  ACT Review through Kaplan Review

15 hours of Multicultural Event Preparation

14 hour of Team Builder Workshops

All staff participate in a Cultural Competency Training day

10 hours of Poetry Workshops for presentation at the Blue Room in the Historic 18th and Vine District, KC MO

30 hours of Medical and Social Science Internships with Health Career Professional in the Greater KC Metro Area
